MALAPPURAM: The Kondotty police on Thursday arrested five students in connection with the caste abuse that led to the suicide attempt of a student at Karipur. The police have identified the suspects as Neethu,19, Athira, 19, Shaija, 19, Vaishnavi, 19, and Shalu,19. The arrested persons are studying with the victim. They were arrested from Karipur, where they had been staying for the past few days. The case was registered on Monday after a girl from Thiruvananthapuram attempted suicide after she underwent caste abuse from her friends. The girl tried to jump out of a lodge at Karipur, where she was staying. According to the Kondotty police, the girl, who is a student of a private aviation institute, had come to the Calicut International Airport a few days ago as part of training.
Daughter was constantly bullied by batchmates
Mother of a Dalit student who was injured after falling from a lodging in Kozhikode has alleged that the accident occurred while her daughter was trying to escape from the attack of her batchmates. Athira, student of a private aviation institute in the capital was in Kozhikode for hands-on training at Karipur international airport when the accident occurred. On November 30, she fell from the fourth floor of a private lodging.
