Kerala High Court dismisses plea seeking action against KSDMA

The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking action against the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) for its alleged failure

KOCHI:  The Kerala High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking action against the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) for its alleged failure in managing the situation after cyclone Ockhi hit coastal areas in the state.

George Vattukulam, state president of Malayalavedi, Thrissur, filed the petition.
“Though the KSDMA has sophisticated technology and equipment at its disposal to predict the weather and any significant change, it failed to respond to the situation. Lack of coordination affected the government’s relief and rescue operations,” George alleged. The court observed the pleas in the petition were completely misconceived and cannot be granted.
