Arrangements complete for ‘Padayorukkam’ finale

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All arrangements for the grand finale of the UDF ‘Padayorukkam’ have been finalised, KPCC president M M Hassan told media persons here. Congress president-elect Rahul Gandhi will address the valedictory meet at the Central Stadium on Thursday at 5 pm.Hassan said though the postponed event from the originally scheduled December 1 at Sanghumukham beach - in the aftermath of Ockhi devastation - is planned at a new venue which is smaller in size, around one lakh people are expected to attend the rally and meet. UDF workers should reach the venue at 4 pm itself as the meet would commence at 4.30 pm, he said.

Rahul will land here from New Delhi at 11.30 am on Thursday. He will drive straight to Ockhi-hit Poonthura and Vizhinjam areas. At 3 pm, he will address the Baby John birth centenary meet at the Police Parade Grounds.Hassan will preside over the valedictory meet of  ‘Padayorukkam’. Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, IUML chief Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal, JD(U) state president M P Veerendra Kumar MP, Loksabha MPs P K Kunjalikutty, K C Venugopal and N K Premachandran, UDF  leaders Johny Nellore, C P John and G Devarajan will also speak. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will deliver keynote address.

Solidarity conclave for Palestinian cause
The KPCC will organise solidarity conclaves supporting the cause of  Palestinian people in the wake of US president Donald Trump’s declaration of recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and heightened tensions over it. The conclaves will be held in the capital and at Kozhikode on  December 22 and 23 respectively.
