Suresh Gopi files anticipatory bail plea in HC

KOCHI: Suresh Gopi MP on Tuesday approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case related to alleged forging of documents to register his luxury car in the Union Territory of Puducherry.The Crime Branch had registered a case against Suresh Gopi under IPC sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record).

In his petition, Suresh Gopi submitted he was apprehending arrest in the case. The FIR is registered on the basis of the allegation he fabricated documents showing a Puducherry address and got two of his vehicles registered with the Motor Vehicle Department, Puducherry, causing loss of revenue to the Kerala Government. According to Suresh Gopi, the allegations are prima facie false. He said the vehicle was not in continuous use in the state.
