Three die in bus accident

 Three persons, including a woman and her son, died in an accident at Peringathur near Panur on Tuesday, when the bus they were travelling in fell into the Peringathur river. 

KANNUR: Three persons, including a woman and her son, died in an accident at Peringathur near Panur on Tuesday, when the bus they were travelling in fell into the Peringathur river. 
Premalatha, 56, of ‘Kanhirathunkal Puthalath’ in Prasanth Nagar, Dasarahalli, her son Prajith, 32, and the cleaner of the bus Jithesh, 39, of Patyam Kongatta, are the deceased. The police confirmed there were only four people inside the bus when the mishap occurred. 

The driver Devdas survived the accident and was admitted to the Thalassery Cooperative Hospital with injuries.The accident occurred around 5.30 am when the Thalassery-bound bus from Bengaluru hit handrails of the bridge and fell into the river. 

Rescue operations were delayed since the incident took place in the early hours. The bus almost sank. 
Fire force teams from Panur and Thalassery also reached the spot but could not do much as they did not have the scuba sets required to carry underwater rescue operations. The bus was fished out using a crane. The bodies are kept in the mortuary of the hospital.
