Performance of NE monsoon
If the ongoing monsoon season is taken into account, the overall rain deficit in the state has fallen to six percent. In Wayanad, where rainfall was around 60 per cent less than the normal, the deficit has now come down to 50 per cent. However, there hasn’t been much improvement in the rainfall situation in Palakkad which continued to record a rain deficit of nearly 60 per cent. Districts which have received good rainfall this season are: Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram, thanks to Cyclone Ockhi which had its impact mostly in south Kerala.
