CPM, CPI to take dialogue route to bridge differences

With the CPM - CPI rift over major issues posing a threat to the front unity, the LDF has decided to hold bilateral talks to find solutions.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:With the CPM - CPI rift over major issues posing a threat to the front unity, the LDF has decided to hold bilateral talks to find solutions. The constant tussle and the damage it causes to the government came up before the LDF meeting held here on Monday. It is learnt the issue was raised by the Janata Dal.

 The meet observed the open confrontation between the two Communist parties in power has been affecting the government’s image. An urgent need to resolve the issue was also pointed out. LDF convener Vaikom Viswan told reporters after the meet the issues would be mutually discussed and resolved.
 “It’s natural for two parties to have their own opinions. Discussions will be held between them,” he said.
 Viswan said there was nothing serious about the issues between the parties. To further questions, he said it was ideal the issues are raised within the LDF.

CM seeks report from ministers
At a time when criticism has been raised from within the front, especially the CPI, over the slow pace of the government, the LDF has decided to look into the issue. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked a report from ministers over the functioning of their departments, it is learnt.  
 The Chief Minister, presiding over the meet, reportedly said once the reports are submitted, detailed discussions will be held within the front. A special LDF meet will also convened for the purpose.
KAS

The LDF convener said a section of employees in the Secretariat oppose the Kerala Administrative Service as they don’t have proper information about it.
 The LDF urged the Centre to provide necessary assistance to the state in dealing with the drought situation in the state. Though the government has been taking major actions to deal with the scenario, the meet felt that alone won’t suffice. It sought a coordinated effort to resolve the crisis.

KSRTC
Considering the severe financial crisis in which the KSRTC has found itself in, the LDF meet has asked the government to take measures to address the issue. The government should provide necessary funds to pay salary and pension to the employees. Sources said the NCP has expressed dissatisfaction over the minister being cornered over the issue. The AITUC taking out a protest march to the Transport Minister’s residence was raised.

Kerala formation day
The LDF decided to observe the 60th anniversary of Kerala formation on April 5 with various programmes. The government will be organising various events from April 5 to 11.
