CPM demands action against casteist  slur on dalit teacher

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has demanded action against those involved in the incident in which a Dalit teacher was attacked and casteist slur made against her, allegedly by BJP workers.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has demanded action against those involved in the incident in which a Dalit teacher was attacked and casteist slur made against her, allegedly by BJP workers.

After visiting her house at Kalliyor in the capital district, Kodiyeri termed the incident highly objectionable.

Such caste-based discretion and attack in the name of caste cannot be allowed in a state like Kerala. There should be sufficient freedom for women to work any time without fear, Kodiyeri said.

“She was insulted by calling her caste names and brutally attacked by some led by a BJP leader. The incident has exposed the true colours of BJP.

It also stands testimony to BJP’s approach towards Dalits. The attack was carried out by a team led by a BJP standing committee chairman. The party should make its stance clear on the issue,” Kodiyeri said.

He also asked the BJP leadership to expel those responsible in the incident from the party. There should be strict measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated, Kodiyeri said.
