Achuthanandan seeks reshuffle of the A P J Abdul Kalam University’s top-level officials

Similar incidents of physical and psychological harassment have been reported from many other self-financing engineering colleges in the state.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the recent incident at Pampady Nehru College, Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman V S Achuthanandan has demanded a comprehensive reshuffle of the A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University’s top-level officials. He has sent a letter to the Education Minister in this regard.

Welcoming the government interventions following the incident, VS said the root cause of the issue is, however, the lack of an effective administrative setup at the university.

Similar incidents of physical and psychological harassment have been reported from many other self-financing engineering colleges in the state. In such a scenario, there’s an urgent need to review the functioning of the varsity’s administration, he said.

He said the university is still being run by officials appointed during the previous UDF Government’s tenure. “Currently, there are no officials in the university’s administrative leadership who can make the necessary intervention and uphold the government’s stand when such incidents occur,” he said.
