Singer Vishnu Priya gets Rs 1.5L financial assistance

KANNUR: Now, Vishnu Priya has a helping hand. A Kochi-based philanthropist and his sister have announced a financial aid of Rs 1.5 lakh to Vishnu Priya. The visually-challenged girl from Kasargod had won the first prize in classical music contest (high school category) at the State School Youth Festival here.

The financial support to Vishnu Priya, a Class VIII student of the GVHSS Karadka, Kumbla, was offered by businessman V V Kasthurirangan and his sister V V Charumathi - ardent music lovers.  They came to know about her story of struggle and achievement through an Express Page 1 report on Thursday titled - ‘Vishnu Priya’s life hits the happy note.’ Her family has been reeling under financial instability.

Vishnu Priya’s father Viswanathan has been bed-ridden since last year and mother Asha Devi too is visually challenged. Kasthurirangan, a businessman, is also a Mridangam artist. Charumathi is a gold medal winner in music from the RLV College of Fine Arts and a classmate of legendary singer K J Yesudas.

“We are very passionate about music. So, we have decided to donate Rs 1.5 lakh to her. Hopefully, she can advance in the field of music. Such poor children should be helped at any cost,” said Kasthurirangan.
