KOCHI: Media should function as the voice of the marginalised and downtrodden, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

After distributing the media awards instituted by the Kerala Media Academy here on Sunday, Pinarayi said media should expose the issues faced by the poor.

“The Media Academy is trying hard to mould a responsible generation. The government will extend its support in this regard. Young journalists should take inspiration from scribes who excelled in the past. When crimes are committed in society, media should play a key role in correcting and guiding the perpetrators to righteousness,” said the Chief Minister.

On the election of Donald Trump as the US President, Pinarayi said many of Trump’s policies were a threat to the human race.
