Further probe should cover all aspects of KM Mani case: VACB

Vigilance superintendent R Sukesan submitted before the Kerala High Court that an investigation covering all aspects of the bar bribery case should be conducted.

KOCHI: Vigilance superintendent R Sukesan on Tuesday submitted before the Kerala High Court that an investigation covering all aspects of the bar bribery case should be conducted, to unearth the truth.

Former Finance Minister K M Mani is an accused in the case. The VACB filed the statement in response to an order issued by the court on a petition filed by Mani seeking to quash a directive by the Vigilance Special Judge granting permission to conduct further probe into the case.

Sukesan, who investigated the case earlier, said the VACB had approached the Vigilance Special Court a second time, seeking further probe into the case.

“While ordering a further probe into the case on October 29, 2016, the Special Judge had ordered to investigate certain aspects of the case. However, the final report was submitted without complying with the order.   “During the latest investigation, the VACB seized 42 important documents. The hard-disc containing accounts of the Kerala Bar Hotel Owners Association and SD card containing the conversation between bar owners were forwarded to the forensic lab in T’Puram,” he said. The forensic lab is yet to issue its report.
