Kerala Nationalist Congress Party leader Jimmy George passes away at 52

Nationalist Congress Party general secretary Jimmy George, 52, died of heart-related ailments at a hospital in Bengaluru on Friday night.

KOTTAYAM: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Jimmy George, 52, died of heart-related ailments at a hospital in Bengaluru on Friday night.  Jimmy George, who hailed from Kollad, had been undergoing treatment after heart surgery in Bengaluru.

His mortal remains were to be brought to Kollad on Saturday afternoon. The funeral is scheduled for Monday.

A close associate of NCP chairman Sharad Pawar, George held various positions in the party. George, who held charges in the party’s North East state committees, assumed office as chairman of the Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co. Ltd (KEL) a month ago. He was also the managing director of Sree Gokulam Housing Company Pvt Ltd. Though, he was considered as party's candidate in the previous Assembly election in Pala, he withdrew from the contest.

He is survived by his wife Sheeba; son Ajish Jimmy George, and daughter Anjana George.
