Civil Services: Athul, Siddharth do state proud

Athul Janardhanan from Pariyaram in Kannur did the state proud by securing the 13th rank in the Civil Services examinations.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOCHI: Athul Janardhanan from Pariyaram in Kannur did the state proud by securing the 13th rank in the Civil Services examinations.A mechanical engineering graduate from Cusat, Athul came out successful in his second attempt. He is the son of Janardhanan M V, an ex-serviceman, and Latha, a housewife. Sharing his joy with ‘Express’, Athul said Civil Services was his childhood dream. “I worked hard and am happy that I could achieve it,” he said.

Athul’s optional subject was geography. In his earlier attempt, Athul could not clear the preliminary examination.23-year-old Athul spent two years for preparations. He completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Payyannur. His sister Neethu is settled in Dubai.

Siddharth B of Kochi bagged the 15th rank in his second attempt. Hailing from Kaloor, Siddharth aims to join the Indian Foreign Service(IFS). An engineer by training, the 26-year-old who passed out of Mar Athanasius(MA) College in Kothamangalam had pursued the Civil Services dream after chucking a lucrative career in e-commerce.

“My family’s support played a crucial role in this achievement. When I decided to quit the job to prepare for the examination, my mother and grandmother backed me to the hilt,” he said.
Aishwariya Sagar hailing from the capital city was ranked 632. A graduate in Economics and History from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, she cleared the examination in her fourth attempt.
