Bar bribery row: Final report soon, Kerala government informs HC

The state government on Wednesday informed the Kerala High Court it will soon file the final report in the bar bribery case involving former Finance Minister K M Mani.

KOCHI: The state government on Wednesday informed the Kerala High Court it will soon file the final report in the bar bribery case involving former Finance Minister K M Mani.

As per the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), the probe is in its final stages, the government submitted following a petition seeking a CBI probe in the case.

The petitioner claimed the VACB did not conduct the probe into the case properly. “Mani, the accused, has high influence over both the political fronts of Kerala and also over the VACB and police officers. This puts the credibility of the investigation at stake and the public has no faith in the probe,” the petitioner said.

The petition said the investigation was being conducted by a DySP even though specific allegations of sabotaging and derailing the investigation had been levelled against former VACB directors and higher-levels officers in the case.
