‘Indira Family Meets’ to be launched today

The Congress is embarking on a wide campaign at the grassroots level against the alleged fascist and anti-people style and policies of  the LDF and BJP-led state and Union Governments respectively.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The Congress is embarking on a wide campaign at the grassroots level against the alleged fascist and anti-people style and policies of  the LDF and BJP-led state and Union Governments respectively. Senior Congress leader and working committee member A K Antony will launch the ‘Indira Family Meets’, being organised as part of the birth centenary celebrations of the assassinated Prime Minister, at the Carmel School at Vazhuthacaud here on Tuesday at 4 pm. 


The family meets will be held in 24,417 booth committees across the state in June and July. The meets will ensure the participation of    relatives and family members of Congress workers. A short film depicting the misrule of  the two governments and their failures will be screened at the family meets.

The KPCC has also brought out posters paying homage to Indira Gandhi, to be displayed at the family meet venues.Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and KPCC president M M Hassan will attend the booth committee family meet state-level launch here. Antony, Chennithala and Hassan are residents in Jagathy ward of the city corporation.


‘’In addition to discussing the failures of  the governments, the family meets will go through specific issues pertaining to the wards coming under a booth committee. Five tree saplings each will be planted at every family meet. Elder Congress workers and those who have scored high in various examinations of the academic year will be honoured at the meets. People’s representatives and party office-bearers from top to bottom will take part,” said KPCC general secretary Thampanoor Ravi.
