THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has written a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the canards spread ‘against the UDF and a former minister’ in connection with the recent unearthing of black money by the IT Department raids in the Sreevalsam group of  firms, and demanding a recommendation for a  probe by the CBI or by any agency under the state government.

Ramesh said the CPI Alappuzha district secretary had levelled the allegations, obviously to create a smoke screen.

‘’Though the allegations were intended to save the CPI for its connect with Sreevalsam group, the topic was widely discussed in the media. The attempt of the CPI was to put the UDF and former ministers under a cloud of suspicion.

The allegation the Sreevalsam group is connected with the Haripad medical college is factually wrong. It has nothing to do with reality and has been fabricated to only blacken the UDF. The people have a right to know the truth,” the Opposition leader said, while insisting on a comprehensive probe.
