Niti Aayog offers support to Nava Kerala Mission 

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said Niti Aayog has extended all support to Nava Kerala Mission that focusses on education, health, environment and housing.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said Niti Aayog has extended all support to Nava Kerala Mission that focusses on education, health, environment and housing. The support from the Centre has come during a meeting between the government and Niti Ayog officials.  

In the meeting, Niti Ayog member V K Saraswath  expressed the Centre’s willingness to support the ambitious project of the state government. Apart from Pinarayi, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac and secretaries from various departments, NITI Aayog director Neeraj Singhal and advisor-in-charge of Kerala Yogeswary were present at the meeting.


Pinarayi said the Centre should allot more funds to the state considering the significance of the projects that are being implemented.  

On the state’s demand for assistance for the waterway connecting Kovalam and Kasargod, Saraswat said the issue was of much importance and would be taken up with the Centre.
The Chief Minister and the Finance Minister told the meeting the state had to get ` 700 crore from the Centre as part of the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme.
