THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thampanoor Police on Thursday arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly forcing a 16-year-old boy into unnatural sex for three months in a lodge.

According to the police, the accused Haneefa was nabbed from his native Thalasserry in Kannur and was produced before the magistrate here on Friday.

Haneefa, who is a programme agent, struck a friendship with the boy from Thrissur who had landed here in search of a job. The accused offered accommodation to the boy in his rented room at Thampanoor.

For nearly three months, Haneefa forced the boy to engage in unnatural sex. The victim, however, managed to flee the place later. The incident came to light after the victim reported the matter to Childline following which the officials approached the police and a case was registered.

However, the accused gave the slip to the police and lived under cover in a non-descript village in Rajasthan. With the help of the Cyber Cell, the police managed to track down Haneefa when he returned to Thalasserry after changing his mobile number. The accused has been booked under Section 377.
