KOZHIKODE: In yet another sexual assault incident on a minor in Kerala, a girl student of a Blind school in Kolathara in Kozhikode was abused by her teacher.
Based on a complaint filed by the student and later by the school authorities, Nallalam police registered a case against Firoz Khan (40), a resident of Meenchanda and the craft teacher at the school.
The incident came to light when the student revealed about the incident to a few teachers and the Childline authorities. The victim had in her complaint said the teacher had assaulted her inside the classroom and also in toilet, four months ago.
Police have registered a case under Sections 7, 8 and 9(f) (k) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused is absconding, said police.
On Sunday, BJP and DYFI took out march to Nallalam police station protesting alleged police inaction in the case and demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
