KOCHI: A 30- year- old married man claiming to be a reincarnation of Kalki, an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, was on Wednesday arrested on charges of raping and cheating three women whom he had been living with since 2013 near Infopark Kakkanad. The incident came to light after one of the victim’s sister-in-law lodged a complaint alleging that the accused had also duped and raped her in February.

According to police, Unnikrishnan alias Kannan, a college passout, was living with three women who he had befriended at their company near Perumbavoor a few years ago. The three women, natives of Kottarakkara, Kottayam and Kozhikkode later left the job to launch a software company in Kakkanad but one of the victim’s family believed she was working in Kozhikode.

A police officer said the accused, whose wife is in Thrissur, already has two cases of cheating registered against him in Thrissur district and police are checking if there are any pending cases against him.

The victim’s sister-in-law in her complaint said she was duped of Rs.1.75 lakh and alleged that Unnikrishnan raped her while she performed a pooja at his apartment on February 28. A missing person’s complaint was also filed with Kochi police after the Kozhikode victim’s parents found out she was not working there.

Police on Wednesday said one of the victim’s has been sent home and two others have been shifted to Snehitha Shelter Home and Mahilamandiram respectively.
