KOCHI: The Infopark police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly raping and defrauding three women with whom he shared an apartment at Kakkanad here. Guruvayur-native Unnikrishnan alias Kannan was taken into custody on the basis of a complaint registered by a relative of one of the victims.
“The accused befriended the women while working with them in a company at Perumbavoor a few years ago. Later, they left the job and launched a software company at Kakkanad in 2013. Since then, the accused has been living in an apartment along with the women,” said the police.
It is learnt the women had told their family members they were doing job in Kozhikode and Kochi. The complainant alleged Unnikrishnan raped the women and cheated one of them of Rs 1.75 lakh. The crime was committed during a pooja conducted at the apartment on February 28.
Meanwhile, the police received a missing complaint from the parents of one of the other two woman who stayed with the accused.
The accused lured the women after convincing them he is the reincarnation of ‘Kalki.’ “Unnikrishan is married and his wife is living in Thrissur. There are two cheating cases pending against him in Thrissur,” said the police.
