KOLLAM: Giving more strength to the argument that the person arrested in the Kundara sexual assault case is a habitual criminal, a family has come out against their next door neighbour that Victor Daniel along with his son had murdered their 14-year-old son in 2010.
In a complaint submitted to Kollam Rural SP S Surendran on Wednesday, the mother of the  deceased boy said Victor along with his son Shibu had murdered her son after he questioned their advances towards his elder sister.

Kollam Rural SP had ordered Kottarakkara DySP B Krishnakumar to reopen the case.
“On the basis of the complaint of the mother we had decided to reopen the case. In 2010 the Kundara Police had registered a case and it was closed after investigation. I directed the Kottarakkara DySP to verify the complaint,” said Surendran.  The mother of the boy told mediapersons that though she had raised doubts over the death of her son the police had disregarded it. She said it was only 19 days after the death, the Kundara Police visited their house for investigation.

“I am sure that my son will never commit suicide. Victor and his son, through their influence, turned the murder into suicide. Kundara Police never took our complaints seriously. Once we approached the police with a case against Shibu for threatening us that he would rape and kill my daughter. But police dissuaded us from filing a complaint against him,” said the mother.
According to her, one day the family members left for hospital leaving the son alone at home. When they came back they found the boy hanging from ceiling.

“Usually there is a procedure to be followed in case of unnatural death. But in my son’s case no such procedures were followed. There was no police presence when his body was  grounded. Indeed it was Shibu who loosened the noose from my son’s neck,” she said.
Earlier, the police had charged Victor with another case of sexual assault after the Special Investigation Team came to know that he had raped another minor girl in the locality. The District and Sessions Court had sent him to 14-day judicial custody for raping his 10-year-old granddaughter.
