Kerala's MVD takes action on registration fraud

The Motor Vehicles Department has started action against the dealers selling old vehicles with new date of manufacturing.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Motor Vehicles Department has started action against the dealers selling old vehicles with new date of manufacturing. Regional Transport Commissioners have suspended trade licences of some of the dealers in Chengannur, Kottayam, Mavelikkara, Kayamkulam and Alappuzha as per the Motor Vehicles Act(section 44).

Licences of TVS Motors and SG Motors were suspended by the Kottayam RTO. Meenathu Motors in Mavelikkara and AST Motors in Kayamkulam had lost their licences for six months. In Chengannur, the joint RTO has ordered to suspend the licences of six dealers while in Alappuzha, the RTO has taken notice of the complaints against four dealers. The action was taken on the direction by Transport Commissioner S Anandakrishnan.

The MVD officials advised the customers to check the date of manufacturing of vehicles from the website www.Keralamvd.gov.in or by using the mobile application ‘Find vehicle year and month’.
