THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On a day when the Left Government drew flak from the CPM state secretariat for its failure to meet the expectations, party general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday said lapses from the state dispensation’s part, if any, would be corrected.

“If there are lapses from the part of the government, they will be corrected. There are some slip-ups from the police department as well,” said Yechury.

Responding to queries on the performance of the 10-month-old Left Government, he said the government was moving on the right direction.

Yechury backed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. “CM also is of the opinion that the government is progressing on the right direction and lapses should be rectified. There’s nothing wrong if a CM admit to errors,” he said. Yechury, however, said the party would neither find a scapegoat nor cover up its mistakes.

Yechury also dabbled with national politics, demanding a speedy solution for the Ayodhya issue and asked SC to issue a verdict in this regard. He also flayed Congress, the party that was in power during Babri Masjid demolition, and demanded an explanation from the party.
