Rs 50 lakh solatium to victim of cops’ torture 

The State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) has directed the state government to award compensation of at least `50 lakh to  school bus driver,Suresh K S who was subjected to custodial torture allegedly at the Harbour police station here after being arrested on trumped up charges.

KOCHI: The State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) has directed the state government to award compensation of at least `50 lakh to  school bus driver,Suresh K S who was subjected to custodial torture allegedly at the Harbour police station here after being arrested on trumped up charges.


The SPCA found the officers - SI Joseph Sajan, ASI Prakasan and civil police officer Rajeevan - guilty of misconduct by causing grievous hurt to the petitioner in custody on July 1, 2016 at the Harbour police station. The compensation should be recovered from the trio.
