Land owners of Kerala can get anomalies rectified till November 27

The government has fixed the new date after it was found several of the land owners could not submit the applications.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The land owners whose land has been mistakenly included in the data bank can get their anomalies rectified till November 27, the final date for submitting the applications for incorporating the corrections. The government has fixed the new date after it was found several of the land owners could not submit the applications. As per the new order, the land owners, who have complaints, should give an application to the agriculture officer who is the convener of the Local Level Monitoring Committee. The application should be affixed with a Rs 100 court fee stamp and mention what type of rectification is sought. Those who have already submitted the application need not apply afresh, the order said. 

There should be a register for the applications received, the order said. The agriculture officer along with the village officer or his representative or special village officer or village assistant should jointly inspect the property of the applicant concerned. It is for the agriculture officer to decide whether the land should be included in the data bank or not. He should then intimate the Local level Monitoring Committee. After this the village officer should inspect the land and then submit his recommendation to the monitoring committee. 

In case of lands which could not be identified using the present system, it should be referred to the Kerala State Remote Sensing and Environment Centre (KSREC). The applicant should remit `1,500 as fee in the name of KSREC Director for the said inspection. Further, the order says the applications which have not been forwarded on time must not be entertained. Once the KSREC submits its report, the agriculture officer can make the recommendation regarding the particular land to the committee. 

In the case of  lands not included in the data bank but which are found to be paddy field or wetland in the inspection, the agriculture officer  should include them in the data bank and intimate the committee. After this a draft data bank should be published for the land owners to file complaints if any.  The order said the Local level Monitoring Committees should publish the final data bank  before March 31, 2018 and notify it. After notifying, it should be published on the website of local bodies.
