“Every day more than 1,000 such cases are coming before the commission’s adalat.

This is not at all a good trend for society as family bonding is important. It should be examined in a detailed manner so that the root cause of the discord can be figured out,” said Josephine adding that the study will be conducted after getting official sanction from the Women’s Commission. This is possible with a joint effort,” Josephine said.Though alcohol is a major reason for familial discords, the lack of understanding between spouses is also a major reason to seek divorce, the chairperson said.

Meanwhile, the adalat conducted by Women’s Commission on Tuesday settled 49 complaints out of 102 which came up for consideration. While 17 were sent for the police report, four were sent to the Revenue Divisional office. One complaint will be considered before the full bench of the commission.
