KOCHI: Close on the heels of registering new records in the production of Ammonium Sulphate and Sulphuric Acid, the public sector fertiliser giant FACT has created an all-time record in the sale of fertilisers. The combined sale of all fertilisers reached new heights in October this year, with a total outflow of 96,674.3 tonnes as against 74,503 tonnes sold out during the same period last year.
The heavy downpour experienced in the southern states during the past one month has helped the company register record sales.With this, FACT tops the list in the sale of phosphatic fertilisers in South India. FACT could also register a total sales turnover of `211 crore in October. Sale of fertilisers in Tamil Nadu reached the peak during October 2017 beating previous sales of the past 15 years. A total 40,332.6 tonnes of fertilisers were sold out in Tamil Nadu during October 2017 as against 27,469 tonnes during the same period last year. The sales in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra and Telangana reached record levels. The marketing division of FACT had undertaken preparatory campaigns prior to the onset of rain in the southern states, which resulted in high sales figures, said FACT authorities.
