The Kerala High Court has directed the Central Government to resolve anomalies in the implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendation for naval technical staff.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has directed the Central Government to resolve anomalies in the implementation of the Fifth Pay Commission recommendation for naval technical staff. The court issued the order on a petition from M E Uthama Kurup challenging the verdict of the Central Administrative Tribunal declining to interfere with the anomalies pointed out by the employees. The petitioner stated senior chargemen of Naval Armament Supply Organisation (NASO) have challenged the reduction in pay scale from `5,500-9,000 to `5,000-`8,000.

The Directorate had found chargemen of the Naval Armament Inspection Organisation and the Naval dockyard might also be granted the upgraded pay scale, on par with the chargeman of Naval Armament Supply Organisation with effect from January 1, 1996. Considering the plea, the court directed the Directorate to reconsider the matter in the light of their own findings and to pass appropriate orders with reference to the financial implications forwarded to them by the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Kochi. The court also directed to pass appropriate orders for rectification of the anomaly within three months.
