THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Pavilion set up by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) at the ongoing  India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi has provided the setting to showcase the startups developed in the state.  

Startups which are socially relevant, with the potential to attract global interest, are on display at the gala event which has ‘Startup India and Standup India’ as its theme this year. The startups featured,  include the makers of ‘EyeROV’ an underwater drone; ‘Robo Invention’ which implemented their electronic kits product in more than 3,000 schools; ‘Recipe book’ app with 5 million downloads;  tour planner called ‘Yatramantra’ , health startups such as Biocalculas and DRIPO, fitness app called Perfit Fitnessand Traffitizer which helps ambulances to rush patients to hospital without any hassles at traffic signals etc.

“We have showcased innovative and socially relevant projects from Kerala which are change makers for several problems.  The visitors can learn the model implemented by the state to drive the startup culture right from the ground level, which starts from schools, colleges and to the startup ecosystem,” said Ashok Kurian Panjikaran, manager, KSUM.

The theme of 37th edition of IITF is ‘Startup India and Standup India’. The IITF which is into its 37th edition has enabled the state to highlight its policy, schemes, and programmes. The support from the government side starting from infrastructure facilities, funding, mentorship, and industry connect has been clearly illustrated.

Tree uprooted  on  Vellayambalam–Kowdiar Road

T’Puram: A tree was uprooted on the Vellayambalam–Kowdiar Road near the Raj Bhavan on Monday night. The tree uprooted in the heavy rain that lashed out in the city by 9.15 am. No one was injured in the incident. Fire Force team from the Chenkalchoola unit was rushed to the spot to clear the road to resume traffic on both lanes. Fire Force sources said it took 30 minutes to clear the road.
