Lok Ayukta order on rights panel postings

The Lok Ayukta on Thursday directed the Social Justice Department Secretary to produce attested copies of the files (if original was not available) related to the appointment of members in the State

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Lok Ayukta on Thursday directed the Social Justice Department Secretary to produce attested copies of the files (if original was not available) related to the appointment of members in the State Child Rights Panel.  The direction was given on a petition filed by Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala alleging favouritism in the appointments.

Lokayukta Justice Pius C Kuriakose and Upalokayukta Justice K P Balachandran issued the direction when the government submitted that the original file was handed over to the Advocate General to prepare a statement in an appeal filed against the decision of High Court to expunge the remarks against the minister. In his complaint, Chennithala said the Minister should be declared not fit to hold the office in view of  various allegations under Section 14 of the Kerala Lokayukta Act.
