THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Parassala police have registered a case and have begun investigation after a first-year student of VTMNSS College, Dhanuvachapuram, complained that he was tortured by ABVP activists of the college. In his complaint, B A Abhijith, a first-year undergraduate student said a group of ABVP activists assaulted him on the campus on Tuesday on suspicion of working for rival student organisation SFI.

The student said the ABVP workers seized his mobile phone which contained photographs of a commemoration event of SFI activist Sajin Shahul. Sajin was a former student of the college who died in a political clash four years ago. Though the phone was handed back, the ABVP activists allegedly stripped and assaulted him in the evening. Abhijith is undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital in the city. VTMNSS College has been a stronghold of ABVP for more than two decades.
