NIA arrests 23rd accused in armed training case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an accused in the 2013 Narath armed training camp case.

KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested an accused in the 2013 Narath armed training camp case. Azharudheen K T alias Azhar, 24, a native of Mundonvayal, Narath, Kannur was arrested from his native place on Monday.An NIA officer said Azhar, the 23rd accused, was arrested following a tip-off. “Our team travelled to Narath and recorded Azhar’s arrest. He was later produced to NIA office in Kochi,” the officer said. 

According to NIA, Azhar was the president of the PFI Narath unit. He, along with the third, 22nd and 24th accused organised the armed training camp, which imparted training in handling weapons and making bombs, at Narath on April 22, 2013. He was guarding the building compound of the training venue and fled upon seeing the police team. Since he was absconding, an arrest warrant was issued against him.
