THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by North Zone DGP Rajesh Dewan will soon register criminal cases against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other persons named in the Justice Sivarajan Commission report. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau will launch simultaneous probes into the bribery allegations.A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday night prepared the formal orders to be issued in connection with the probes likely on Friday.
The SIT is learnt to be entrusted with probing cases involving rape charges against Chandy and nine others, allegation against ex-Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan for scuttling the probe, alleged favours extended to Team Solar by former ministers and MLAs. It will also probe the charges against ADGP K Padmakumar and DySP K Harikrishnan for destroying evidence.
The vigilance probes will ascertain the veracity of bribery allegations against Chandy and his personal staff members. It will also probe the undue favours extended by ex-Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed to Team Solar.In cases registered on rape charges, police will begin the investigation with recording the statement of Saritha S Nair before a magistrate.
