Hartal: Safety of public will be ensured, says state police chief

Following the directives by the High Court and as asked by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the police have beefed up security arrangements in the state in view of UDF’s hartal on Monday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the directives by the High Court and as asked by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the police have beefed up security arrangements in the state in view of UDF’s hartal on Monday.

In a press statement, state police chief Loknath Behera said all precautionary measures had been taken to ensure public’s safety. The DGP has instructed all district police chiefs to see that untoward incidents, including destroying public property, are avoided.

Stern action will be taken against those who force traders to down shutters of their shops. The police will also provide protection to KSRTC buses, private vehicles, courts, offices and other public institutions, he said.
