Disciplinary action will be painful, says Padmakumar

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ADGP K Padmakumar on Thursday said it was natural for the accused in a case to raise allegations against investigators. His comment was in the backdrop of the government move to launch a probe against him and other officers who investigated Solar scam cases.Padmakumar told reporters here some fake stories against him were doing the rounds in connection with the scam. “I have not seen the commission report. I expect there won’t be any serious adverse remark against me in it,” he said.

Earlier, Padmakumar had written to the Chief Secretary in the wake of the government move to launch a probe against the special probe team which probed the scam cases. In it, Padmakumar said his interventions in the case were responsible and part of the job. The accused who the courts had found guilty were raising fake, wild allegations against him.

The first case in the solar series was registered by the Perumbavoor police as per his directive. His intervention was instrumental in unearthing the huge fraud based on which 30 cases were registered in different districts.Saritha’s accusations were out of her personal vendetta. All those were appraised to the Solar Commission. He had only supervisory role in the investigations and did not have the investigation responsibilities, he said. Disciplinary action in the wake of the Solar report would be painful and affect his career and personal life, he said in the letter.
