ARC to convene meeting of senior govt officers

The Adminstrative Reforms Commission has decided to convene a meeting of the heads of 22 government departments and a few public sector undertakings on November 3

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Adminstrative Reforms Commission has decided to convene a meeting of the heads of 22 government departments and a few public sector undertakings on November 3 to hasten the administrative reform process. The decision to convene the meeting was taken after it was found the departmental and instiution-level committees constituted for the purpose were not functioning effectively.

As part of increasing efficiency of government officers, a workshop will be held on November 13 which will be addressed by heads of various training institutions. This will be followed by a seminar on December 13 to assess the implementation of various welfare laws. 

The Commission will study in detail the welfare of women, differently-abled, senior citizens, children and migrant labourers. Public hearing will be held in Thiruvannathapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode in December to incorporate the views of these sections of society. Commission chairman V S Achuthanandan presided over the meeting.
