CPI hasn’t taken any stance on Thomas Chandy, says Kanam

CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran on Thursday said the party has not taken any stance on Transport Minister Thomas Chandy, who has been embroiled in the land encroachment controversy.

PATHANAMTHITTA : CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran on Thursday said the party has not taken any stance on Transport Minister Thomas Chandy, who has been embroiled in the land encroachment controversy. However, Kanam told reporters LDF will not protect anyone found guilty. 
On the title deed cancellation issue, Kanam said the LDF Government will distribute title deeds to farmers who cultivated the land for decades.

“The government will distribute title deeds to settlers after joint verification by Revenue and Forest Department officers,” Kanam said, adding only LDF stood for the cause of genuine settlers and distributed title deeds and ownership documents. On the Aranmula land issue, he said he was unaware of the Taluk Land Revenue Board decision and the lapse on the part of Revenue officers.Kanam said the CPI national conference in April will take a stance on a broad political alliance with Congress against BJP at the national level.

On the controversy over Kodiyeri Balakrishnan using a Mini Cooper allegedly belonging to an accused in a gold smuggling case for LDF’s Jana Jagratha Yatra, Kanam said how can one check the horoscope of a vehicle owner before travelling in the vehicle.He said the Jana Jagratha Yatra had got overwhelming response from people throughout its route. “Two major measures (demonetisation and GST) of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre proved disastrous for the people and the country’s economy. Even key functionaries of the Centre had admitted both the decisions have been failures,” Kanam said.
