‘Padayorukkam’ will signal future politics of the state and nation, says Chennithala

‘Padayorukkam’, the UDF political campaign against the anti-people policies of LDF and BJP Governments, will signal the politics of future in the state and at the national level, said Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Padayorukkam’, the UDF political campaign against the anti-people policies of LDF and BJP Governments, will signal the politics of future in the state and at the national level, said Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. All arrangements have been finalised for the successful course of political attack against the two governments and people reeling under untold miseries owing to various policies would passionately support the campaign and become part of a movement, he told reporters here.

Congress working committee member A K Antony will flag off the month- long campaign at Kumbala on November 1 at 3 pm, in the presence of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, IUML national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty MP, among others.Chennithala said people are viewing the CPM and Left Government struggling in a swamp of  decay, be it in the shameless acts of the Chief Minister to protect Transport Minister Thomas Chandy even after the District Collector’s report clearly indicted him for many illegalities, inaction on many a violation of  P V Anwar MLA in the water theme park run by him, CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan unmindful of  using a luxury car owned by a gold smuggling case accused and two CPM MLAs  found in the company of  two gold smugglers, who are proclaimed absconders.

‘’The Left Front has turned into a den of  smugglers and land grabbers. People are fully aware now why Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPM is working overtime to protect Thomas Chandy. The Chief  Minister is protecting all those indulging in corruption and violating laws of  the land,’’ the Opposition leader said.

He was also highly critical of  the CPI for trumpeting loud and thereafter dying with a whimper, on issues one after the other. ‘’The CPI has become the butt of  ridicule in the Munnar land eviction issue. The Revenue Minister is kept in the dark on the affairs of the department, and the Revenue Secretary doesn’t even bother to listen to the minister. It is for  the Revenue Minister himself to decide whether he should continue like this,’’ Chennithala said.

Nat’l leaders to attend
The UDF campaign will be marked by a zonal rally on Kozhikode beach on November 8 and a finale attended by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. A rally would converge for public meet at Sanghumukham beach on December 1. Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will address a public meet when the campaign reaches Ernakulam Rajendra Maidan on November 18. The campaign will be off for a day on November 9, as the Assembly will be on a day’s special session for tabling the Solar Commission report.
