KOCHI: Taking cue of the ever-growing Malayali demand for online purchases, Amazon.in is expanding its large appliances and TV categories in Kerala. “In fact, Kerala has one of the largest premium purchasers of large appliance products online,” said Suchit Subhas, Category Leader-Appliances and Automotive, Amazon India at a press meet in Kochi.According to the executives, Amazon.in has witnessed high customer demand in the state with Kochi at the forefront followed closely by Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Kollam and Palakkad. Some of the top brands that have witnessed a huge demand are BPL, IFB, Whirlpool, Sony, Panasonci, TCL, Samsung and LG.


“Our No Cost EMI programme has also seen very encouraging adoption leading to a convenient and enjoyable shopping experience on Amazon.in. BPL remains the most loved appliance brand on our site in the state and we look forward to expanding their selection on our platform,” Suchit added.
According to him, Kochi remains the largest market for large appliances for Amazon.in in Kerala with more than 65 per cent of the demand in the city being led by microwaves and washing machines. 
Some of the top selling products include: washing machines from BPL, IFB and Haierm, microwaves from IFB, Refrigerators from Whirlpool and TV’s from Sanyo, TCL and Micromax. 

Amazon’s commitment to Kerala
Amazon.in has made high value purchase experience for large appliances for customers in the state. 
The dedicated toll-free customer care number helps customers with any queries and guides them before and after the purchase. The executives have assured the presence of installation services in all amjor cities in Kerala. “Also, No Cost EMI is available to all customers with credit cards from all leading banks namely HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Citibank, Kodak Mahindra Bank among others,” he said.

BPL’s presence in online space
Manmohan Ganesh, Head of Corporate Strategy, BPL Limited, which has its roots in Kerala and a large appliance brand partnership with Amazon.in says it has moved 100 per cent on to the online space. 
“We are extremely surprised and our growth has been exponential. BPL has grown over eight times on Amazon.in since the launch last year,” he said.
