Keezhattur agitation: CPM will not stand in the way of development, says Kodiyeri

Endorsing the district leadership’s stand regarding the ongoing Keezhattur agitation, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made it clear the party would not stand in the way of development

KANNUR: Endorsing the district leadership’s stand regarding the ongoing Keezhattur agitation, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan made it clear the party would not stand in the way of development in any manner. He was speaking to media persons at Kannur on Wednesday.
“We had an election manifesto while we sought votes during the last election which clearly states the development of national highway will be implemented at any cost. The task is entrusted with the NHAI authorities. We do not want to interfere,” he said.

Some people are misleading the party workers involved in the agitation. The anxiety of the people will be solved, said Kodiyeri. “The Janarakshayathra slated to begin on Oct. 3 to be inaugurated by BJP national president Amit Shah is nothing but a road show to create tension and a sense of insecurity in the district.” The yathra will give a wrong notion of Kerala to the world outside, he said.

The party and government will take a decision regarding the Solar Commission report after studying it thoroughly. He also said the party will take appropriate action in connection with the land encroachment issue involving Transport Minister Thomas Chandy.  CPM workers in Lakshadweep are being tortured by the pro-BJP Administrator, as the party aims to win the Parliament seat by silencing its critics by annihilating them using power, Kodiyeri alleged. A team of CPM MPs will visit Lakshadweep soon to evaluate the situation.
