KANNUR: The attack on Shuhaib was carried out with the intention to kill him, states the remand report of Akash Thillankeri and Rijin Raj.The report states four persons, including Akash and Rijin Raj, were behind the attack. When Shuhaib and three friends were having tea at a wayside tea shop at Edayannur, the four accused reached the spot in a white car which didn’t have a number,  and hacked Shuhaib to death. They also injured those who tried to stop them by hurling bombs and hacking them with the intention to murder, says the report. The report goes against the police clarification the other day that the attackers didn’t intend to kill Shuhaib.

The report further states the police had verified around one lakh phone calls to trace the culprits. It was through scientific methods that the police were able to find the hideout of the two and they got enough indications about the hiding place of two other accused by interrogating Akash and Rijin, says the report. The report says  Akash and Rijin were taken into custody from a roadside hideout near Malur sub-station. A case has been registered against them under IPC 341, 302, 307 and 324  and sections 3 and 5 of the Explosives Act.
