KANNUR: Shuhaib’s parents handed over a written complaint to Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala demanding a CBI investigation into the case.  The Opposition leader will submit the complaint to the government with a covering letter.

After a meeting of UDF leaders on Thursday evening, Chennithala announced that the indefinite strike launched by Sudhakaran will continue till the government declares a CBI investigation into the Shuhaib murder.

“The Congress and the UDF have lost faith  in the ongoing investigation of the state police as contradictory news in connection with the investigation is coming out on a regular basis. Some reports say the SP has gone on leave showing distrust in the team.

There are also reports that another police officer in the team has gone on leave. To top it all, the contradictory statements of the CPM, the major party in the ruling coalition, add to the prevailing confusion.

One leader says the accused have no connection with the party and another leader says they have links with the party.  One says the party will conduct an inquiry themselves, and the state secretary says that nobody will be allowed to interfere in the investigation. People are confused. We have no confidence in the investigation,” he said.
