Kevin’s death: Special investigation team records statement of Neenu’s mother

Since Crime Branch DySP Girish P Sarathy, is under treatment after a car accident, Rehna’s statement was recorded under the aegis of DySP Ashok Kumar.

KOTTAYAM: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the abduction and death of Kevin P Joseph recorded on Wednesday the statement of Rehna, mother of Kevin’s fiancée Neenu Chacko. Since the investigating officer of SIT, Crime Branch DySP Girish P Sarathy, is under treatment after a car accident, Rehna’s statement was recorded under the aegis of DySP Ashok Kumar.

The SIT members took nearly six hours to complete the procedures. Rehna arrived in Kottayam in the morning along with her advocate and turned up for interrogation at around 11 am, which lasted till 5 pm. It is learned she dismissed allegations of her involvement in the case before SIT and said Neenu was under treatment for paranoid psychosis.

Earlier, Rehna told reporters she was unaware of the abduction of Kevin by son Syanu Chacko. According to her, her son acted for the good of his sister (Neenu Chacko).“I had gone to meet to Neenu, but Kevin and Aneesh didn’t allow us to meet her. Neenu had shown variations in her behaviour and had taken treatment as well,” Rehna said. She also dismissed allegations she went absconding after the death of Kevin. Rehna’s husband Chacko John, son Syanu Chacko and some relatives are the accused in the mysterious death of Kevin and are in jail.
