T C Matthew used Rs 8.5 Lakh from Kerala Cricket Association's fund; meeting on Saturday

Another Rs 25.29 lakh was lost due to the unauthorised occupation of the guest rooms at KCA headquarters while irregularities amounting to Rs​ 44.02 lakh were found.

KOCHI:  The inquiry commission found that T C Mathew had utilised Rs 8.25 lakh from the Kerala Cricket Association’s fund for monthly rent while a loss of Rs 3.9 lakh was incurred due to misuse of the official vehicle. Irregularities amounting to Rs 70.93 lakh were found in awarding KCA’s contracts to three private firms during Mathew’s reign. 

Another Rs 25.29 lakh was lost due to the unauthorised occupation of the guest rooms at KCA headquarters while irregularities amounting to Rs​ 44.02 lakh were found in the construction of a retaining wall at the Kasargod cricket stadium; Rs 47.12 lakh worth of irregularities in unauthorised rock blasting in the stadium property in Thodupzuha was also found, the ombudsman noted. Reacting to the development, the KCA said it would discuss the matter with its members before taking necessary action.

“We have a special general body meeting planned for Saturday in Alappuzha. We will discuss the issue there,” said KCA secretary Jayesh George. Despite repeated attempts, T C Mathew was unavailable for comments.
