Kerala's Consumerfed hikes employee salaries

State-backed entity Consumerfed has revised its employees’ salaries, fixing the lowest monthly wage at Rs 15,500.

KOCHI: State-backed entity Consumerfed has revised its employees’ salaries, fixing the lowest monthly wage at Rs 15,500. The pay revision will come into effect from July and the revised salary will be provided in August, Consumerfed chairman M Mehaboob told reporters on Wednesday.

“The maximum salary will be Rs 81,500. The pay revision will be provided to 2,613 employees, including temporary and daily wages employees. A pay revision to the tune of Rs 1.45 crore has been sanctioned by Consumerfed,” Mehaboob said. The last pay hike was done in March 2011.

Unlike previous occasions, a master pay-scale has been introduced this time as per which salaries were revised in 11 categories. The daily wage employees will be getting Rs 650 compared to Rs 400 they received last month. There are 857 daily wages employees working with Consumerfed. Nearly 25 per cent salary hike will be provided to contract staff and they will be receiving Rs 15,000 per month compared to their previous salary of Rs 12,000.

Part-time assistants will be given Rs 7,450 and a DA of Rs 8,800 per month. HRA allowance has been hiked to Rs 2,000 compared to the earlier Rs 900. Medical allowance has been hiked from Rs 1,650 to Rs 3,500.

Consumerfed will meet the additional financial burden from the business profit. This year, Consumerfed has initiated step to start the Triveni Institute of Pharmacy offering BPharm.

Neethigas by Consumerfed will be supplied to government hospitals and anganwadis.The salaries were revised based on the report of the committee which the Consumerfed had constituted following demand of salary hike.
