TIRUVALLA: One more priest accused in the Malankara Orthodox Church sex scandal was arrested on Friday. Fr Johnson V Mathew was arrested from near his house at Kozhenchery. He allegedly abused the victim in his car and sent sexually explicit messages to the woman.
The investigation team brought Fr Johnson to the DySp office at Tiruvalla for interrogation. Police sources said he would be presented at the Magistrate Court later.
Fr Johnson’s anticipatory bail plea was to be considered by the High Court on Friday. The anticipatory bail applications of the other three accused in the case had been rejected by the court on Wednesday.
Two more accused in the case are yet to be arrested. Fr Job Mathew had surrendered in Kollam on Thursday and was sent to the Pathanamthitta sub-jail for 15 days.
