CPM is feigning attacks to trigger violence, says SDPI

SDPI will soon take out a march to the office of the District Police Chief (rural) to protest the arrest of its ‘innocent’ party worker.

KOZHIKODE: Terming the arrest of its worker on charges of hacking an SFI activist at Perambra as ‘mysterious’ and ‘politically motivated’, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident to bring the ‘real culprits’ to book.

Addressing media persons on Thursday, SDPI leaders said the alleged ‘attack’ on the SFI worker was being used by the CPM to portray the SDPI as a threat and instigate the ruling party’s cadre to violence.

“After the so called attack on the SFI activist, our party worker Mohammad was  arrested from his house by the police at the behest of CPM cadre. Though the police were initially convinced of Mohammad’s innocence, they were forced to arrest him due to pressure from the CPM,” SDPI district president Mustafa Paleri said. The SDPI leader said CPM cadre attacked a local office of the SDPI at Perambra and also carried out attacks on the houses of local leaders of the party using the alleged attack on the SFI worker as a trigger.

“CPM is carrying out these attacks in the dead of night. But we will expose their actions before the public in broad daylight,” the SDPI leader said. He added an SDPI worker was hacked at Kommeri in the district early this month by CPM activists.

SDPI will soon take out a march to the office of the District Police Chief (rural) to protest the arrest of its ‘innocent’ party worker, Paleri added. SDPI district secretary Jaleel Saqafi and Perambra unit president Ismail Kammana were also present.
