Swords and axes seized from SDPI man’s house

DySP  T Narayanan said stringent action will be taken against perpetrators of violence and those indulging in unlawful activities.

PATHANAMTHITTA: In a major swoop, Adoor police on Thursday seized arms from the house and business establishment of SDPI activist Shafeek at Arukalickal  in Ezhamkulam and Parkode, respectively. Shafeeq was arrested in its wake and has since been remanded in police custody by the Adoor JFMC Court.

The arms seized, include four swords, two axes and three iron rods as well as two swords and three iron rods from the shop. The operation which began at 9 am went on till 1 pm, sources said.  A seven-member team led by Adoor DySP R Jose conducted simultaneous raids at the two places following a tip-off received by district police chief T Narayanan. DySP  T Narayanan said stringent action will be taken against perpetrators of violence and those indulging in unlawful activities. The officers have been told clearly to maintain a tight vigil over vulnerable areas in the district to prevent untoward incidents, he said.
